Strength Training for Football with Coach Cosmo Curry

"Cos" Curry won the 1995 High School National Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Award sponsored by the NFL Strength Coaches Society. He coaches with his father, George Curry, at one of the country's premier programs in Berwick Pennsylvania.

Explains philosophy and formulation of a program, gives a sample program, and analyzes lifts in developing strength, flexibility, and power in football players. His coaching philosophy includes using sport specific exercises that help build a total athlete in areas of strength, endurance, speed, power, agility, balance, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness. This is done using a variety of lifts to prevent lifting burnout, with a recommended starting age of 13. The focus is on Olympic-style movements with demonstrations of how power cleans, push jerks, hang cleans, and other movements improve explosive hip power by teaching a football position that improves performance on the field.
