The 21st Century Manager

No people in the history of the world has been asked to go through so many changes so rapidly as the people now in the workplace. With this understanding facing managers in business and education, author and speaker Bernard H. Petrina, President of Executive Management Systems, discusses the need for renewal for those in management positions in his four part series "The 21st Century Manager." The premise of the series is that managers do not manage people, they manage systems­but they lead people. Topics such as: understanding different personality types; what motivates others; and how to help others become more successful are discussed, as are other concerns.

 

 Each part of the series is designed to focus on one of four management skills:

1.) As a Leader...
...the manager must understand people and develop the skills required to guide and inspire them to do the best they can in the roles they are assigned.

2.) As a Manager...
...he or she must be a systems expert, and be able to adapt and/or create systems in response to changing needs and opportunities.

3.) As a Connector...
...the manager must connect the people and the systems in a way that maximizes the productivity of both.

4.) As a Persuader...
...the manager must be able to "sell" ideas and plans to others in order to fulfill his/her role as a leader, manager and connector.

Each video is approximately 20 minutes.
A workbook is provided to guide discussions and stimulate participants in their quest to become better managers.
